2. Amino acids and DNA, RNA
Ask A Scientist c Biology Archive Amino acids and DNA, RNA Question: Could you please tell me how amino acids are related to DNA and RNA? When DNA is transcribed the first step in expression of the gene , RNA i s synthesized using this code. Each set of three contiguous RNA nucleotides codes for a single amino acid, and the protein is made of a chain of amino acids hooked to one another. So each set of three nucleotides in the DNA eventually codes for one amino acid in the final protein that is made from a given gene. The nucleotides and amino acids are not similar chemica lly, and it is the protein synthesis machinery of the cell that is needed to translat e one code into the other.

7. Antisense Nucleotides - Antisense Rna, Antisense Dna, Rna Interference
Search Other Free Encyclopedias :: Medicine Encyclopedia :: Genetics in Medicine Part 1 Antisense Nucleotides Antisense Rna, Antisense Dna, Rna Interference Antisense nucleotides are strings of RNA or DNA that are complementary to sense strands of nucleotides. Additional Topics Antisense Nucleotides Antisense Rna Messenger RNA mRNA is a single stranded molecule used for protein production at the ribosome. Because its sequence is used for translation, mRNA is called a sense strand or sense sequence. A complementary sequence to that mRNA is an antisense sequence. For instance, if the mRNA sequence was AUGAAACCCGUG, the antisense strand would be UACUUUGGGCAC. Antisense Nucleotides Antisense Dna Antisense DNA strands can also be made note that in the double helix, the si

10. Silent DNA: speaking the RNA language?
Published in Bioinformatics vol.19, no.17, pages 2167 2170 November 22, 2003 DOI:10.1093/bioinformatics/btg320 toc Silent DNA: speaking RNA language? Alexander E.Vinogradov Institute of Cytology,Russian Academy of Sciences,Tikhoretsky Ave.4, St Petersburg 194064,Russia Contact: aevin mail.cytspb.rssi.ru ABSTRACT The sequence of silent DNA in the human genome intergenic spacers, introns and synonymous codon positions of protein coding genes was found here to have the higher thermostability of corresponding RNA/RNA and RNA/DNA duplexes as compared with randomized sequence. The revealed effect was not due to correlation of RNA/RNA and RNA/DNA thermostabilities with thermostability of the DNA/DNA duplex, which, on the contrary, was lower than in the randomized sequence
